What the actual fuck could possibly be so magical about the Minimoog to fetch that kind of price tag? Gold/platinum wiring? A nuclear centrifuge? Diamond-jeweled bearings for the pitch/mod wheels? This is an obscenity.
Made in the USA in a quality, repairable way.
And that kind of build costs five grand now? You'll forgive me if I raise a little eyebrow over this. I know that as Americans we are obsessed with lowest price this and that and also Chinese mfg that cuts corners at every possible opportunity but this seems bonkers to me. Especially since the item is based on 50-year-old tech & only slight improvements. It's not even consistent with their other builds that are designed from scratch from the ground up & just as built in the USA in a quality, repairable way. I mean the Moog One is only (lol "only") $2k more but has a feature set that is far, far beyond the 50-year old Mini.

IDK, this seems like an obscene cash grab to me, not that I really have a skin in the game, but still.

Also, it's not like parts are getting cheaper. $5k is a lot of money, but used the most recent reissues are regularly selling in the $5-8k range. Maybe it's a cash grab, but I'm also not opposed to Moog being like, "yeah, we'll charge this and then be able to maybe be a bit more sustainable." They've done a fair amount to get synths in the sub-$1k range that it shouldn't be a huge heartbreak that they want to do something that's a little fancier/more "legacy" and charge for it.

You can buy a Mexican Strat for $400, or you can get some dream Custom Shop deal for $4k. It's nice to have options from the same company!

Now, if you'd rather buy a $200 Behringer knock-off, be my guest, but truly fuck that company.

Of course "truly fuck that company" but if your choice is between Uli or never with a wide gulf between "I can afford this" and "I will never be able to afford that" it's super hard for me to fault anyone for going down that route either.

IDK. Can't say why this bothers me, so maybe I need to do some reflecting on that. Just seems like nonsense. Probably invokes same feelings of jealousy I have when I see someone driving a car that costs more than my home or something.

I hadn't heard that kind of punishing level/quality of sound in while, and you know.. it DID sound like an unattainable $5k level of sound. Moreso than a nice Les Paul.
I thought Joey used a Voyager?
