Maybe? There's slop in the bushing and slop in the tapped holes for the bridge. I just played it though and I think a removable thread locker would be fine. The bigger issue (besides me sucking) is the frets resemble paper matchsticks in profile. Definitely gonna make this instrument rock in 2023 though!Dr Tony Balls wrote: Fri Dec 02, 2022 11:45 amThis sounds to me like its a "floating" bridge kinda like a Jazzmaster or Jaguar. People used to do all kinds of things to get those to stop rocking, and I remember someone even selling sleeve bushings to fill the gap. Nowadays they just make snug fit cups. Would it solve your problem if the existing bridge just fit snugly in the bushings and didnt rock?twelvepoint wrote: Fri Dec 02, 2022 11:25 am The bushings that go in the guitar aren't threaded and the adjustment screws just sit in them. The bridge itself is the threaded part.
So anyway the adjustment screws have play in the bushings, and the threading in the bridge is sloppy, so the whole bridge can wiggle back and forth.

52I thought their PAF was just called the PAF or the 36th Anniversary. The ones you have are supposed to sound more single-coil-like.numberthirty wrote: Tue Nov 29, 2022 3:50 pmI would like to check your math on that one...MoreSpaceEcho wrote: Tue Nov 29, 2022 12:31 pm And in one other guitar I put in Dimarzios, a Humbucker from Hell in the neck and a Bluesbucker in the bridge. The latter is their PAF. They're good! Just not Fralin good.

I have an S-300 I haven’t touched in a few years. I don’t remember there being any issues with the bridge, though. Maybe yours just needs adjustment, or maybe you just don’t like the guitar? I’ve found you’re better off trading than modding.

54D'OH! I meant P90 not PAF. I'll go back and edit my post.biscuitdough wrote: Sat Dec 03, 2022 11:03 amI thought their PAF was just called the PAF or the 36th Anniversary. In other pickup news, Fralin Sunbucker and PAF Pro got installed over the weekend. Sunbucker was love at first strum, great sounding neck pickup, what I was hoping the Humbucker from Hell would sound like. PAF Pro also sounds great, seems a little brighter and middier than the Unbucker I have in the bridge of another guitar.
Spent an hour Saturday night comparing all the various Fralins I have and basically my favorite was whichever one I was playing at the moment. Can't really go wrong.
For aluminum beard scathing treble skronk I recommend the Big Single 43.
Re: Recommend me a...
55I prefer Fralins for any vintage style Fender or Gibson pickup. Its cool that their other options work great tok
Re: Recommend me a...
56Fralin recently rewound my TB1000S bridge pickup and it sounds awesome. I also thought it was very considerate that he called me personally to talk about the rewind.
Re: Recommend me a...
57Yeah that's great.
Their site got hacked, don't go there. Of course google would be screaming alerts at you anyway if you tried...

58Yeah I've always heard he's solid - If I'm going to buy some magnets and wire might as well be from a decent guytwelvepoint wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2022 10:11 am Fralin recently rewound my TB1000S bridge pickup and it sounds awesome. 59I'm interested in ideas about new budget pickups for my cheap but genuinely fun Bullet Mustang HH.
The factory humbuckers are pretty blegh. Far more usable than I expected for a $150 guitar, but since I've decided I really like playing this guitar I want something I'll like a bit more. Not looking to spend a lot but I'm back to playing guitar nearly every night with this little thing. I play it on the couch, I grab it to go hang out at a friend's, it's small and comfortable, yada, yada.
I was toying with some sort of Humbucker format single coil, but after putting some budget GFS Surf 90s in a strat I feel less curious about that. I was considering these Bootstrap H-90s, however.
I'm inexperienced with single coils beyond liking telecasters. Has anyone thrown a tele bridge pickup in a different guitar and had much success? I imagine the different placement of the pickup to have some effect. Thought about doing a traditional Mustang SS, but I've never liked mustang or strat bridge pickups very much.
I might just say fuck it and stick with my comfort zone and get some used humbuckers. C Jury is rocking a SD 59 in his Bullet Mustang, If I recall.

60I just bought a squire thin line tele with the stock WRHB's last week - it needs a couple of small things, and has a noticable blemish on the body that has no impact on function, and was priced to reflect that. It feels really great, and I mentioned elsewhere that I've been jonesing for a tele deluxe, so this satisfies that urgeVaticanShotglass wrote: Fri Feb 03, 2023 11:40 am I'm interested in ideas about new budget pickups for my cheap but genuinely fun Bullet Mustang HH.

I haven't had a chance to play it at a real volume because I live in Texas and with the current weather conditions, the whole family has been home with cancelled school THIS ENTIRE WEEK and I usually slay while there's no one home weekdays when I have off. There's a possibility I get a few minutes alone with it and can turn it up today.....fingers crossed. I'm curious about the pickups tho, I've read mixed things about them.
Keep this updated - I've bookmarked that link in case I don't really love the ones that are in there now...
I'm not sold that GFS pups are an improvement over stock. I know there are people who swear by their stuff, but bought one for a H/S jazzmaster weirdo guitar and it sounded virtually the same as the OG humbucker that was in there. This was 10 years ago though...
