How hard is that job?
Real Easy. Requires a few odd sized allen-wrenches, un-soldering, re-soldering a few wires, and keeping track of all your screws, and of course caution around the capsule membrane. The shittiest part of the job is getting rid of all the old deteriorated foam crud, but some 90% isopropyl alcohol and acid brush/toothbrush makes it go pretty quick...also a razor blade helps to scrape the rotted foam off the plastic parts.

Foam can be ordered from Full Compass, or directly from Bosch, which saves a few bucks.

Here's a guide with visuals:

I've successfully refoamed 3 mics with no issues.

Busy month (-ish).

Found a Guyatone tube spring reverb unit on, appropriately, Reverb dot com. Have been looking for a more cumbersome and annoying way to do the whoosh-whoosh clang etc., no-brainer for sub-$300 CAD.

Some months ago bought an Epiphone Union Jack Sheraton for $650 to flip, which even as a transient thing was sorta gross. Couldn't be bothered to resell online and listing locally felt slimy (although I bought it from a store). Traded straight across for a Peavey T40. Current T40 prices are horrifying but I don't mind having $650 into one. Sunburst (which has big Ric Autumnglo vibes to me, I dunno)/rosewood, great shape, big fan.

Stumbled across a Squier VM Jazz Bass for $225 with a case. Sure. Tiny neck go whee.

Bid adieu to a truly dogshit 2022 by impulse-adjacent-buying a 1977 Gibson RD Standard from a local shop on the 30th of December. A lot of money by my frugal standards but somewhat below market right now and an absolute ripper. Satisfies my need for a vintage Gibson and quirky enough to not cost a fortune. Smells odd. Ivory soap and must. Airing out presently.

Then, today, an ad appeared for two vintage keyboards for free: a working Yamaha YC20 combo organ and a non-working Rhodes Mark 1 Stage 73. After a recent retirement from playing shows/existing in a public space in general, I leapt at the chance to once more use my wee Mazda 3 like a cargo van. Was the first to message, likely because the ad was very much too good to be true, and one reminder that I am very out of shape later, they came home with me. Turns out "non-working" meant "pickup was unplugged from the output section". So I have a new combo organ and electric piano, I guess. I am absolutely over the moon.

Good month, at least gear-wise. Ready to outfit 1979's coolest rock combo.

Walrus Audio Slö reverb. My go-to amp is a Princeton Reverb but I want to use my Bassman and want to have the reverbs. Was eyeing this, and then Walrus had a blemish sale ($60 off) so I finally made a purchase.
Continuing the "reverb on reverb" section, I got a Keeley Hooke to use with my springless Roland Blues Cube. A way more convincing spring sim than the EHX Oceans 11 or the JHS Spring Tank. Very happy. Haven't tried the other sounds accessible via DIP switches - largely because they're not really very accessible at all, and I'm happy with the main spring sound. The 30 seconds or so of the "fugue" setting that I tried is weird shimmer, which just isn't a sound that does anything for me, and haven't really tried the trem on it yet.

That is a hell of a score!
No Kidding! +1 Congrats!
Thanks. Still feeling pretty gobsmacked about the whole situation. (Even the combo organ is a total hoot.) And fortunately, "plug thing back into thing" is the absolute limit of my technical knowhow. (Can play keys OK, though.)

After a year that would be best summarized in the mental health mutual support thread (& more broadly, in the words of the great Bob Ducca, "I've been very depressed for the last couple of most of my life"), this feels like a silly little win that I'm letting lift me up a bit.

Incidentally, Fender Rhodes + Traynor TS = a truly lovely pairing.
