So this is day 7 and I’ve been home since Saturday, mostly just resting, reading etc. The first few days I was sore and in a fog from an anesthesia hangover but lately I’ve been clear headed and probably back to 80% energy. Tomorrow is a big day where a somewhat uncomfortable medical device is removed and I should be clear to drive, which is great as I’ve been housebound and a bit stir crazy. After that, there’s some rehab with functionality “down there” and I’m confident that will go well, but may be a lengthy effort.
I’m amazed every day that this was caught early and could be dealt with on my terms, rather than cancer’s terms. I’m also grateful to my wife who’s been amazing through all this.
If anyone ever is going through this and wants any advice or support do reach out and I’ll do whatever I can.
Re: Would y'all mind if we keep asking Cancer to Go Fuck Itself?
92At the infusion clinic with my sweet wife and for SOME REASON they're playing "Maybe I'm Amazed" and goddamnit, I didn't need to get into my feelings like this.
We caught it early, it's only in one place in her body. Five months of chemo, a little surgery, and hopefully we're gonna put this behind us.

93I'm tardy in saying this, but best wishes, health, and speedy recovery to you, twelvepoint.
Also best wishes to DFTR. Hope for successful treatment and speedy recovery for your wife.
I recently turned 45. It's time for my first round of checks soon.

96All the strength in the word to you and your families, twelvepoint and DFTR.
Re: Would y'all mind if we keep asking Cancer to Go Fuck Itself?
97twelvepoint and DFTR, glad both of these were caught early and hoping both families have complete success in treatments/removal.
Re: Would y'all mind if we keep asking Cancer to Go Fuck Itself?
98Dear DFTR, I wish your wife the best with treatment. It sounds like things are relatively positive in terms of treatment, but surgery and chemo is still surgery and chemo. Anything we can collectively do here for positive encouragement or just some laughs: we’re here.
I’m on day 8 and the catheter came out this morning which was 3 seconds of yikes, but otherwise it’s nice to be running under my own power here. Typically there’s some issues around continence that require retraining some muscles, but so far it’s been looking good.
I did chuckle at the “pulling for you” comment, and indeed, there is some rehabilitation with that as well.

99I'm just gonna vent for a second, but it is amazing how many people in the infusion center are unmasked AND coughing like they swallowed a live kitten.
