'Mindhorn" on Netflix - an intentionally silly and lighthearted comedy which effortlessly giggles. Watching it made me feel like this what writers of Marvel films aim (and miserably fail most of the time) at, but for some reason they're resorting to forced humor and 'smart' snappy dialogue which makes entire scenes feel like a C-grade SNL skit. Meanwhile 'Mindhorn' kinda reminded me of 'A Fish Called Wanda', maybe because the main character loves him self oh so much, just like Jamie Lee Curtis boyfriend character from 'Fish'. Nothing spectacular but time well spent, would watch again.

Finished Lodge 49. What a great fucking show. It's about a guy in Long Beach (CA, not NY) who's down on his luck and stumbles into a lodge like an Elks type thing. It's a mash-up of Coen brothers, Thomas Pynchon; the title has to be a nod to his work. It's a slow burn, but filled with beauty (not superficial), absurdity, and it's quite touching. I can see why it was cancelled. Very little violence, no sex, tits, or ass, no one is hot, and no one is mean-spirited.

I was a little reluctant to watch yet another zombie thing, but I’m out for a bit on medical leave and gave Last of Us a shot. I’m really enjoying the pacing and patience of this series, as well as the filming and set design and details. Like you, I was really impressed with the 3rd episode and I think it’s bold to do a backstory episode like this so early on. Just a beautiful story.

Still need to see this, especially since a good friend of mine was one of the writers.

That's awesome. It's really good writing, IMO. Great use of music, too. Someone on Spotify made a playlist that has most the songs used and it's a fun compilation.

Big Little Lies, which I started years ago, I finally finished. It's good but the flashbacks become too much. We get it.
