I also bought 2 before the extra $25 off. I already feel dirty getting them at 50 bucks.

My Monoprice ribbons arrived today and they both work, appear to have similar output and character. Noise didn’t seem noticeable but I’m not recording purring cats from 30 feet away or anything. I’ll throw one up as a mono drum overhead and see if I like that.

I'm finding myself grab these for guitar mics a lot. Nice on my low watt old epiphone from about a foot away. clean lots of reverb. handy mics for almost free.

Has anyone tried these (cheap Monoprice ribbons) as a Blumlein pair yet and could recommend a good bar for that purpose?

I've been using them as a blumlein pair since I got them, but I just use two stands and eyeball it, sorry!

I did for a second, but liked my MXL 144's better for it since they were A LOT darker and fighting cymbal splash in my basement is my greatest concern. They worked though. I still haven't found a stereo bar for blumlein that I like that isn't like $500. Good Stereo bars are hella expensive. Thinking about making one with tread bar from home depot.

I still wouldn't say these monoprice ribbons sound great, but for the price, they sound good and have a different flavor than a 57 or a cheap Chinese eletcret which is like... most of my mics. Actually if you want the cheap Chinese electret version of the Monoprice ribbon mic get a par of Tascam TM80's for smidge over a hundo. They are really not too bad at all and look like cute baby U89's. I have way worse mics that cost a bunch more... looking at you AT2020!!! You stupid piece of total useless shit!

EDIT. Sweetwater has these stupid little mics for like $35 right now. They are worth at least $45!

Thanks y'all. I suspected a stereo bar that didn't suck wouldn't be cheap enough to make it worthwhile for these mics, but figured I'd ask just in case there was something decent price/quality wise.

No first hand experience, but DIYre tends to make nice stuff.

Just had the idea of using aluminum T-track to DIY a blumlein bar. Maybe that could be a thing somehow with those mysterious thread adapters that I have a lot of for no apparent reason.

How about the Oktava ML-52-02 ?
