These are your examples? I just re-listened to both and I double down on what I said. It should be noted that I came to this band in my 40s after already liking RFTC and Hot Snakes. Guessing it needed to be in my veins two decades earlier.

Jehu (formative), Hot Snakes (objectively whips hardest). Rest I could take or leave, significant WF for RFTC because playing in that band seems like it'd be a blast.

Edited to add: was pretty disappointed by PLOSIVS, a rare example of a band I was super excited about being significantly weaker than the sum of its parts.

Jehu and Hot Snakes are a no brainer, but RFTC and Night Marchers are great bands as well (and Jehu and Hot Snakes are also pretty close to being the same band.)

Jehu is my favorite. I really don't care that much for Hot Snakes save for a few songs, but maybe they'd click more if I'd seen em live.

I find myself listening to Night Marchers' Allez Allez more than anything else he's been on.
