Did this M160 ever come into your life, mdc?
The b-stock idea sounds like a good idea to me; the one I've had is b-stock I probably got from Full Compass, more than a decade ago now. I didn't know there's a factory up near Alto; that's pretty cool.
I feel like talking you into a b-stock m160 is a good compromise that's practically talking you out of buying a full-price new one.

Alto music in Middletown, New York has an endless supply of used beyerdynamics. They use stock photographs, and the same "used" mics have been continually listed for eight years. The minute they sell one, it gets immediately re-listed. I suspect they have a connection with beyerdynamic in Farmington New York to sell b-stock or returns or blemished mics or something like that. I've bought several from them and they seemed brand new when they arrived. Maybe not, but anyway, they constantly list "used" beyerdynamics for cheap and will even send you a discounted offer sometimes if you are watching them on Reverb. Plus you have 30 days to return it.

m160 for $562, including shipping:

Whoops! I don't think I did a very good job of talking you out of it!

I'm thinking about upgrading my shit/changing how shit is done. Looking at maybe seeing if a Neve 8816 with the 8804 fader pack can be used as both a way into a daw as well as a summing/mixing/monitoring solution coming out of a daw. Using external preamps and the direct outs to the daw and then using it to submix back through for mixes. I think I can rig it to have a couple of cue mixes too. I can get away with 2 or 3 cue mixes if one can just be the DAW playback. Dunno. Might be flinging myself down a rabbit hole when just getting a nice small console is a better answer. Seems like what I want to do might be a patching nightmare every time I want to go from tracking to mixing.

Bandmasters used to be $500 all day long - and just never seemed to sound as good as bassmans, maybe lack of maintenance, or transformer size, I don't know but for that money you can find silverface bassmans or I'd rather have a traynor yba-1 anyday

‘77 is ultralinear, which regardless of whether you mind or not, should get a discount.

I haven’t tried the Benson signature cab, but it’s a recent Hot Rod series thing, so it won’t have much resale value.

All in all, if you play this amp and have to have it, I wouldn’t fork over more than $650.

Looking at the ad, they pulled the C12K (a nice speaker) from the Benson cab and stuck in a Celestion Seventy Eighty, which is a downgrade.

Yeah, ultralinear Fender is not the same as ultralinear Sunn. No question.
