Will I have luck? Probably not. But there's a PRFer on the inside who might be able to whisper in some ears.
(Even notwithstanding the PRF influence, Yamaha/L6/etc is a company I largely trust, especially lately. As a longtime Guild fan I'm excited for what's to come.)

153Speaking of, any thoughts on that recent DL-4 reimagining?frighteners wrote: Sat Mar 04, 2023 6:49 amFM benadrian, a true hero among us.benadrian wrote: Mon Feb 27, 2023 3:55 pmI will be pushing for it whenever I get to talk to them.frighteners wrote: Tue Feb 07, 2023 10:46 am Yamaha bought Guild. 154This is baffling, rather than interesting. Two grand to sound like Adam Clayton? A two-grand 50 watt bass combo? Is this for four string tone lawyers to lay down some hot lunchtime bass in the office without risking the shame of no tubes/lunchbox bass amp?
I'm sure there's a niche for this scale of amp, but I can't imagine the lure of sounding like Adam Clayton is going to entice that many people.

155I saw that, and it looks like a Hot Rod Deville...Dudley wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 5:10 am This is baffling, rather than interesting. Two grand to sound like Adam Clayton? 156Yeah, this seems crazy to cost $2k, and if it wasn't some signature thing I bet it would cost more what their other tube combos cost.Dudley wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 5:10 am This is baffling, rather than interesting. I'd actually totally be into a head version of this amp!

Re: Interesting Gear Developments Thread
157$2K wouldnt be that crazy if they let you peek under the hood. If its built right, $2K is *okay*...
Of course it was built right, they'd be showing that off. So this is a very expensive Hot Rod Deville for Bass.

Re: Interesting Gear Developments Thread
158You can still get mid-60s Bassmans for $1500.
A light, probably awesome-sounding 15" Mesa cab is a grand brand new, and you can get the older 1x15" Mesa cabs like I like for $500-600 or less.
I know from experience that's a great little bass rig! And it will hold its value! Maybe this one will too, though, who knows.
Some of the modern Fender amps can sound good, but I think they're irritating in term of build quality and design.

159Yeah, $2k for something from a small builder with good parts, etc wouldn't be crazy. Verellen was selling a 100 watt Meatsmoke fliptop amp and I'm sure that was $2k-$3k.
But no way that Fender thing should be $2k when they're selling those Bluesbreaker combos for under $1k.

Man, I look at prices every now and again, and I can't believe I got my '64 for $500 just over a decade ago.eephus wrote: You can still get mid-60s Bassmans for $1500.

160So not new exactly, but this video (and there are many exploring similar territory) does a good job showing how dead simple the concept is.
