Early 00s Rat 2. Had been missing having a regular Proco Rat around (even though I own two clones, yes, I know), but wanted something from around when I bought mine new in 2003/04. Found this one on Reverb, with a Brat serial number sticker and the older non-sloped enclosure. Looks like it's not uncommon to have Rat 2's w/ the Brat serial numbers as they would just slap anything on there if they were out of normal serial numbers.

Took a chance on a 2004 American Vintage Reissue ‘62 Jaguar last week that was in overall good shape but unplayable in its current state. Happy to report that after a near complete disassembly:
took the neck off to add a stew mac 1 degree shim, gave it a truss rod tweak which is now dead straight, 0000 steel wool used to removed a ton of grime from the fretboard and polished the near zero fretwear frets, removed the buzz stop and cheap mustang bridge he had installed, sprayed out the intermittent switches, cleaned and polished the body and chrome parts, slapped my last vintage Mustang bridge on it, sanded and reglued the nut, and slapped a set of 11s in it. Has all the original parts and tags minus the leather strap and cable.

Now plays like a dream and looks nearly new. Matches my 2001 AVRI ‘62 Jazzmaster I’ve owned for 20+ years. (Both Surf Green).

Happy I took a chance and paid $700 less than the current average market value on these. Not the most amazing deal ever, but decent and I feel a sense of accomplishment.

I 100% wrote off that AVRI 62 offset series when they came out 20yrs ago or whenever, but after getting one of the JM necks for a parts build a few years ago I am filled with regerts. I have a couple of (fucked up, player grade) vintage JMs (and have played a lot more of them) and the AVRI 62 neck hangs with any of the vintage fender stuff. I really wish I'd picked up a few of the complete guitars when they were cheap enough to justify gutting and rebuilding.

Hell yeah. Surf Green is a winning choice.

LOL that's been about the most controversial thing this week on the pedal building community front. Not your wife's friend, it seems he just did graphics. The JHS involvement in it.

Oh man, I have 4 from the AVRI series and they are all fantastic guitars. Arguably the best playing and feeling guitars I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned a LOT (probably 50+ guitars over the years). I’ve got a copper ‘52 Tele, a black ‘72 Thinline thin skin that came to me with the new cunife pickups installed, and those two ‘62 offsets. already mentioned. I should probably pick up a ‘62 Strat at some point. Almost pulled the trigger on a new ‘61 Vintage II Strat before that Jaguar popped up.
