Yeah, I'm not exactly sure how it will play out. I did post a few things on Reverb since I wasn't able to move them elsewhere, but I have my original receipts for them should I need to show I'm not making a profit from selling them. It's like the only things I actually have receipts for, at least that were easy to find. Otherwise, I have no clue how I'd manage random sales here and there without having to pay an income tax on them.Garth wrote: Fri Mar 18, 2022 8:01 amWelp. This is absolutely fucking terrible...and completely ruins any plans I had to get rid of some things.chrisyoumans wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 8:13 am With the new tax law, Reverb (and any marketplace) will have to report your sales and issue you a 1099-K if you hit the $600 threshold.
I imagine the IRS isn't going to sweat small stuff like this and will mostly be looking for actual businesses and side hustles trying to skip out on taxes, though I could be wrong. God forbid they just tax the mega rich people appropriately. I imagine I'll stop selling and do more trades if this ends up being a thing we have to deal with (e.g. keeping receipts and such just so we can possibly sell things later).
