If memory serves me correct: Lenny Bruce and Bill Hicks were also pricks with some sketchy personal behavior to account for.

The dude was born with a rare disorder, combination smug voice and face. It's often part of why he's funny and part of why he's hard to like at the same time. He is an excellent comedian and not crap either way. This doesn't make him an excellent person.
