Looks like that Yamaha also uses the USB “to-host” MIDI, which is a bit of a drag, although I’m thinking I need to just deal with that and look for an adapter, or look at pricier ones with 5 pin MIDI, or find something used.

It's a huge drag that they are not putting 5 pin din on mii stuff much anymore. I bought one of these to deal with it and it works, but having one more stupid box velcro'd to my desk is annoying for sure.

I'm much less annoyed about the 1/8" trs mini plug as that's at least just a simple adapter. I wish more boxes would be doing this instead of USB or in addition to. Gets midi into smaller formats & slightly less clunky/fidgety cable to get in on a hectic stage.

Yep, and a 8th to midi is like $8 or something like that on the Zon. Or you can chop up a bunch of cables and make them if you are a nerd.

RIVNUT INSTALLATION TOOL?

This may be too far out for the tech forum but wondering if anyone has experience. There are kits all over amazon/the internet but I dont know of anything is better than another or if there are things to look out for.

Searching for a good simple trem pedal. Basically amp trem in a pedal. One good sound with rate and depth controls is my dream. Bonus point if it isn't stupid expensive. Everything I've tried so far has way, way, way too many options.

For bone simple I’d go Voodoo Labs but for something that hasn’t been kicked around for a million years Dr Balls has a simple trem I’ve never tried

Yea mine is a simple amp-style tremolo (phase shift oscillator) in a pedal.
