22Going to NY (from Boston) this Friday to see Bailter Space at Merc Lounge. One of my fav bands from that era, and I hope it’s worth the trip!

Also, hadn't heard of the The Gordons (Bailter Space previous incarnation) until last night. Fantastic!
Oh yeah, if you recognize the 3rd or 4th song, please tell me what it is. It's a longer one with what sounded like a backing piano track. It was mesmerizing and I got lost in it. Really great. I stopped listening to them after Capsule but I can't seem to find it. maybe it's new...
Edit: Found the track I refer to above, it's called "MODF," off their latest album, Concret, from 2021. The live version last night was so fucking good.

24Looks like they've got a different/fill-in bassist. It seems like Alister's doing a bit less singing and more of the overall "out of tune yelling" over the tunes, but would still be reaaaaaally into seeing them. I bet they'd sound great at Sleeping Village.rsmurphy wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 1:36 am ^ I've had "Robot World" on repeat over the past few days. Such a great song. Sad they aren't coming to Chicago.

25Last time I saw Xiu Xiu was almost twenty years ago at Intonation. Yesterday I made a last minute decision to try and score one of the limited tickets they were releasing at the door to their sold out show. They had ten allotted and I was #9. Really great, life-affirming set. Glad I took the chance.

Regal Machines f a couple of old-school FMs

Cherubs
Poster Children
Today was one of those days where I wanted to fuck-off to a remote forest in Ireland and live out the rest of my days. Not even the exuberance of a Poster Children set could change my mind so I dipped after a couple of songs. Good run of shows, though. Cherubs remain as filthy-sounding as ever. I needed that as much as I needed to see my old friends in Regal Machines.

A few pics from last night's Brainiac show. It was fantastic. Wish I were a better picture taker tho
