Abstaining from voting.
You said that The Beatles are crap. Pretty sure they make even more people, than all the bands in this poll combined, happy. Who are you to infringe on their happiness, right?

So I don't follow your logic at all.
Sorry for my shitty English

From the rockabilly thread:

I was going to try and step to defend S.D, but yes, it must be acknowledged that those solo records are not good, and they're not good because he fucked w/ the "O.C punk w/RnR melody" formula.

The thing w/ S.D is that Ness writes about people and situations that speak to damaged, underclass, white trash people (like myself) who crave a little cultural recognition. Chalk it up to class divisions, but you won't get it if you haven't lived it... and Ness gets the unwanted outsider thing where your past mistakes are like a noose that hasn't quite tightened, he gets the thankless grind thing where the job drains you more and more every week, he gets that the walls are closing in and that hope just hurts... and he records what he sees with an open heart. That's why he draws such a fanatical fan base across various tribes.

I'll accept that what I can take as romanticism gets pretty close to a hokey / corny vibe, but if that's what he needs to do to write the best set of rock and roll loser songs since Johnny Thunders, then that's fine by me.
TL;DR - people w/ middling status shit on people w/ lower status (partly to levitate their misery and insecurity, partly out of contempt for the other) and Ness writes about lower status people w/ empathy so he must be an idiot like the rest of the plebs.

They would rather that we were voiceless than express a differing opinion, espcially when we dissent. After all, only a morally inferior person would criticise this system that gives status and rewards to the righteous...

Midwit thinking 101: art that aligns itself w/ contemporary bourgeois 'morality' = good. Art that veers away from this in any way = bad.

That's awfully close to saying that a criticism of a mediocre hip hop mc must be racist. Working class people deserve good songwriters too.
Right? As if there aren't whole genres of music written about downtrodden people. If you take yours in dress-up-punk form then have fun I guess.

True, but so did The Cramps, the B-52s, The Misfits, The Strat Cats, etc.
Also true. Those other bands - even Stray Cats - were much better. Setzer's vocals were pretty limp, but he made it up in the guitar department.

I think it's the three-chords-and-Fonzi aesthetic that annoys me more.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.
