Ouch man. I'll DM you on the FB's been too long between chats.dontfeartheringo wrote: Wed Jun 14, 2023 8:18 pm Here, everyone have a little cancer!
Srsly, though: Drs are telling the Mrs that the chemo was effective. Outpatient surgery next week to sort out the chemo port and any dregs of the tumor. Her hair is starting to grow back. She feels a little better. It is, as she says, "Somewhat better than dying."
In the meantime, the dermatologist recommended I move to a less sunny climate. Like a cave, for example. I get two plugs taken out of my face in the next ten days. First was today. Right cheek is all stitched up and tight. Hurts.
Did the thing where they hack a little, check the edges, hack a little more, decide they got it, stitch it all up. Takes about an hour and a half between debridings. I was sat in a waiting room with a bunch of old people. We all had at least one bright and clean white surgical dressing on our faces. Some more than others. It looked like river-swim day at the old folks home, and we were attacked by a very low-achieving school of piranha.
Once they were confident they'd gotten it all, they had me come in and get all stitched back together. It felt like the doc was stitching up a pair of 14 eyelet Dr Martens while he was chatting breezily with me about fly fishing.
Kiddo is bored with summer already, but also hates school. Living in the middle of nowhere, she has a dearth of friends who want to come over and talk for six hours about Demon Slayer. She needs constant interaction which means that I think my days of working from home are winding down for now. It's not great.
Face hurts. Did I mention that?
