That can't be so.Nate Dort wrote:There are multiple sold listings on reverb that went for around $1600.DaveA wrote: Mon Jun 19, 2023 11:54 am Anyway, those prices on Reverb are just what some flippers are asking. They're speculative, in addition to being tacky/in bad taste.
If these units actually started selling like hotcakes at +300% markup, then I'd do a double take.
Re: Interesting Gear Developments Thread
262They fuckin opened those too. I’ll try to get 2 grand for a shrink-wrapped example. Used but mint. I bet they don’t even know they came like that
Re: Interesting Gear Developments Thread
263Unreal. This is worse than those Boss/Sola sound Tone Bender prices. At this point even those who bought without intending to flip it must be thinking twice.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Mon Jun 19, 2023 5:13 pm They fuckin opened those too. Can't wait to see how this unfolds for you, llllllllllllllllllll

264Reverb will insist on taking photos of the device inside. I've been burned that way before.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Mon Jun 19, 2023 5:13 pm They fuckin opened those too. I’ll try to get 2 grand for a shrink-wrapped example. Used but mint. I bet they don’t even know they came like that
Re: Interesting Gear Developments Thread
265I see - probably not worth the trouble in case a buyer decides to say there was nothing in the sealed box

266I cannot tell you how angry I am that I did not get one (or a dozen) to flip.Garth wrote: Thu Jun 15, 2023 8:24 am I think we're all in agreement here on a few points
1.) The Price Is Too Damn High
2.) The Filp/Resale Value Will Almost Certainly Still Go Up From There (although at the already high starting point, it'll be interesting to see how much)
EDIT: I have never done a flip sale before and am frequently angry about resale prices for desirable gear going through the roof but my anger certainly should be more directed at the companies for not making enough to meet demand vs average joe taking the opportunity to make some extra money.
Re: Interesting Gear Developments Thread
267Countdown to Fender announcing the Non-Limited, unsigned, no fancy pants booklet version of the same pedal for like $350 MSRP in a run of 2 million units. The demand is hella high and they would be walking away from a ton of cold hard cash to not put out a standard release version after the collector rush dies down. It will be hilarious when it happens cause it will mean all those fools paid 1.5 grand for a booklet and a scribble.Garth wrote: Tue Jun 20, 2023 1:36 pmI cannot tell you how angry I am that I did not get one (or a dozen) to flip.Garth wrote: Thu Jun 15, 2023 8:24 am I think we're all in agreement here on a few points

Re: Interesting Gear Developments Thread
268I don't think the 'production' version is a secret or anything - there have been a bunch of people on les forums saying they know a guy at fender etc who have all said it's 100% coming.
IMO, if anything it'll drive the value of the ltd version up even further. The existence of a plebe version makes the l33t even l33t3r.
Two pals bought them, they're both extremely happy with their purchases. Seems like an extremely cool pedal with some novel features; the willy wonka element is dumb fun; what's there to complain about?

269That I didn't buy one (or one dozen) to flip.
That's it.
I mean folks get angry at ticket scalpers too; this is no different really. Demand > Supply sitch
Re: Interesting Gear Developments Thread
270I haven’t read the manual or anything, but I played it a bunch last night with an EGC guitar with flatwounds and a 15 watt 50s Gibson.
To me, it’s closest in feel to a Lovetone Ringstinger I had for a while before I had to sell when prices got too high. There’s no ring mod on the Shields Blender obv, but it’s a very interactive pedal that does all sorts of crazy shit, and the fuzz is such that it feels like you can tune it with the tone knob. It’s not subtle, and in some ways the pedal obliterates the relationship between the guitar and the amp. Dialing in clean sounds is cool, but you have to goose the volume when you do that to make it sound good. The sag control kind of makes the pedal, but I couldn’t imagine any one section of this pedal without the others. The expansion switch kind of goes into a rhythm/lead sort of change, but the eq differences can be a little extreme.
If I have one complaint, it’s that I wish the fuzz had a wider range down as you’re kind of starting on 10. If I had two complaints, the octave down switch really needs a master volume, but I understand why its not there - it’s the You Made Me Realise switch.
All the gold rush stuff surrounding it seems to happen any time Kevin Shields has done anything post-2000s, so I’m not really going to get into it in this post. It’s a very cool pedal.
