The World Underground / Fear & Loathing in Guangzhou, China

1
Hey. After much thought, I've decided to move back to China in August. The World Underground will continue with a film about Chengdu based Hiperson and Beijing based Lonely Leary. FM Steve mixed some audio for it, so that's exciting. This thread will be similar to me "Northeast China, and beyond" thing I did in the old forum. Basically, I'll post photos and write about what I see, and update you on all the noodles I'm eating, if you care to follow along. Guangzhou will be home base this time, which is in the south. Great city. I'm excited as hell, to be honest. Will be rolling in on a tourist visa, so it's an easy in and out from Hong Kong for a refresh on the stay period. I've got quite a few cool things in the works, and they can all be done remotely, so onward we roll. The USA just isn't doing it for me. You could say it's complicated, but I'd say it's probably 90% about the noodles.

Long story short, it is once again time to fuck around and find out. Updates incoming.

Cheers,

It's weird to say this, but it's done. There's a lot going on, and at this point I have a lot of options, so cutting my cost cost of living 80% while I throw shit at the wall for a year or so just seems like a very, very good idea. As always, you're never gonna know unless you take the plunge!

80%!? Is China that cheap or the compound that expensive?

Or some of both, maybe?

Interesting move. It seems lateral, somehow, sans detailed context, but if it makes sense, do it.

It is, but that's with the context of the compound existing, and me sticking around in a place like Chicago. Sure, I could tone down my living expenses, re-enter the corporate hellscape, but why not go mobile once again, and aim for a stronger, leaner, and more insane round 2 of the whole damn thing. More experience. More madness. More commitment.

Doubling down on life, I guess you could say.

Further context will come. Lots in the works!
