Have surmised that there are plenty of nice, bright, talented, witty, and caring people on there. But that doesn't make Twitter as a whole Not Crap. Even from a distance.
Am kind of surprised that some people of note still have the stomach for it/haven't migrated elsewhere.
It seems that just about anytime someone in the media/entertainment industry who's left of James Woods politically dunks on a dumb right-wing meme/comment/talking point, they get accused of being a Jared Fogle type.
Re: Social media site: Twitter
22There are still good people on the tweetybox who care about a real conversation. Example: Alex Zielinski’s local reporting has been stellar, she’s great at breaking it down into pithy tweets, and she makes a point of promoting other good reporting (even from competitors). That shit is valuable.
But yeah that’s not the primary road Twitter wants you to go down. As Natalie Wynn said, it’s about reveling in the cruelest human impulses imaginable. And it’s extra ludicrous that Melonhusk thought that solipsistic conservative white nationalism just wasn’t quite doing well enough, and needed that extra little tongue bath (read: showing paying flunkies’ replies first) to get it over.
Crap, WF 7

Re: Social media site: Twitter
25Things are really dumb now. Non-paying users can only view 600 tweets a day. I ran into my limit by just an hour or two of morning-browsing.
I can't comprehend why Elon is doing this. Is he just plain stupid and inept, or is there something else going on? Like, why is he wrecking things on purpose?

27I think Musk has nothing specific in mind for Twitter. I realize that he's a complete narcissist (I don't use this word often) and his behavior giving his own tweets priority absolutely confirms this, but ultimately I don't think he cares what happens to Twitter. He's playing with his toy and you all can play so long as he makes the rules. He's the bully in the sandbox (as opposed to the "town hall" it's often called).
[Looks at watch]. Yep, still crap.

28It also appears that the days of casually browsing Twitter without an account are over.kokorodoko wrote: Sun Jul 02, 2023 9:29 am Things are really dumb now. Non-paying users can only view 600 tweets a day. I ran into my limit by just an hour or two of morning-browsing.

30I was going to say "I don't understand his long-term plan. Didn't he put up his entire fortune to buy it and if it fails he's completely fucked?" but it turns out he's worth 5 and a half times what he paid for it so.... welp; I guess he'll just go back to Tesla?
