I haven't got to Anderson yet because I nearly died laughing at the Moleskine Notebooks and Camping bits

63Was gonna post something similar.. like, hmm, seems odd someone on here would say that about Wes Anderson like it’s a bad thing.DaveA wrote: Sun Jun 25, 2023 12:46 pm Other Stuff White People Like:

Maybe, “good things that white people like”, versus I don’t know, guns? ( <<< implying white Americans here of course )

64For every 'good' example of each of the things on that list, there are 50 to 100 that are so bad they make me want to stop listening to music. And, as they do with Wes Anderson, people keep falling for it. Do fans of Doom Metal actually even think about the songs or do they just hear BRUTAL TONE, BRO and they're like 'FUCK YEAH'?jfv wrote:Was gonna post something similar.. like, hmm, seems odd someone on here would say that about Wes Anderson like it’s a bad thing.DaveA wrote: Sun Jun 25, 2023 12:46 pm Other Stuff White People Like:

65It's like some things are good .... And others are bad... And it's not particularly important if they were made by white people.jeff fox wrote: Tue Jun 27, 2023 8:48 amFor every 'good' example of each of the things on that list, there are 50 to 100 that are so bad they make me want to stop listening to music. Re: Filmmaker Wes Anderson
66I had hope for the new film within the first few minutes as the sets were fun and vibrant and the background (play intro) seemed fun, but it all seemed to go... nowhere. So little substance - even less then in the previous films. Less plot too. It's just a by-the-numbers Wes Anderson film with slightly odder backgrounds.
The dialogue felt phoned in too. Is it just me?

Re: Filmmaker Wes Anderson
67Right. The art being good or bad is the dominant trait, and it being a quasi-white-specific form of good or bad is less relevant.losthighway wrote: Tue Jun 27, 2023 9:38 am It's like some things are good .... 68Yes, I am serious. And I'm quite familiar with TJL's lyrics. So, in other words, you have nothing.zorg wrote: Thu Jun 22, 2023 8:15 amAre you serious? I can't fault you for not understanding Yow's vocals, but I'll let you look up the lyrics to the songs, It's not like they were an outlier in that scene being abrasive, either.boilermaker wrote:Can you give me some examples of this statement?zorg wrote: Thu Jun 22, 2023 2:45 am
I was going to respond to this with further sarcasm, but I'll be nice instead. Apologies for offending you.
I posted this comment in a thread called CRAP/NOT CRAP, with a long history of "hot takes", irony, and crass humor. I would not post this comment on Common Sense Media. My audience here includes a person whose username refers to a song by a band that regularly used violent "edgy" lyrics to entertain or provoke thought. Why that's you!
I've never been on 4Chan and have no interest in any unpleasantries. The monkey story was in the news, so I thought it was ripe for lampooning. I will not rescind my exceedingly strong distaste for Wes Anderson.
Ultimately, all great artists, even Wes, must face the music ....https://www.newyorker.com/culture/cultu ... -hate-dogs
Sorry for my shitty English

69Ok, well I’m glad we could at least agree to derail the Wes Anderson thread, because he sucks.boilermaker wrote: Tue Jun 27, 2023 5:47 pmYes, I am serious. And I'm quite familiar with TJL's lyrics.
