The problem in my neighborhood is firework season starts late June and goes through mid July. You can hear an idiot's mortar at 1AM on a week night. I can forgive one night of tom foolery but why stretch it out and why so late? I used to lose my shit when I had a baby sleeping in the house and those dummies would start blasting.Geiginni wrote: Tue Jul 04, 2023 11:42 pm Goddamn fucking idiots and their goddamn fucking idiot fireworks. Truly a pastime for the most depleted of nitwits.
Meanwhile I have to deal with a freaked out dog barking.
If only they were powerful enough to just blow these idiots' hands off once and for all.
USA USA USA. Pro fireworks all the way. I’m more concerned with barking and pooping dogs, which are a year round issue. Also they try to steal my hamburger.losthighway wrote: Wed Jul 05, 2023 12:17 amThe problem in my neighborhood is firework season starts late June and goes through mid July. Yeah my little lady was freaking out last night. I ended up throwing on Northwoods Baseball Sleep Radio at a high volume and it seemed to help calm her down a bit.Geiginni wrote: Tue Jul 04, 2023 11:42 pm Goddamn fucking idiots and their goddamn fucking idiot fireworks. How about they work out ALL of the bugs, first. This "release it at 90% finished" is fucking shit, and working its way into mechanical society.jfv wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 9:55 pmI work in safety.. and have been pushing for requirements for this for years.ErickC wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 9:19 pm There ought to be a federal law that states that end users can decline all software updates. I get so sick of never being able to actually use software because it's perpetually updating. Video games are particularly evil at this.
Manufacturers have put up a big front on this, saying they know best.
I’m very torn. Users should be informed, but if there is a safety risk with the old software, am sorta on board with the update occurring without the user’s approval.
Actually, I have a lot of trouble with all of this on both sides, and it is what occasionally makes me want to throw it all away and live in the woods.
Point taken, and something I’d generally agree with in most circumstances (i.e., software cannot be released until there are no known issues).enframed wrote: Wed Jul 05, 2023 12:54 pmHow about they work out ALL of the bugs, first.
