I'm pedantic, I know, but I still don't understand why we celebrate July 4 when September 3 is arguably both more important as the actual birthday of the United States. The signing of the declaration of independence is just a teenager writing an angry note to their parents; September 3 is the day the court emancipated them.

The problem in my neighborhood is firework season starts late June and goes through mid July. You can hear an idiot's mortar at 1AM on a week night. I can forgive one night of tom foolery but why stretch it out and why so late? I used to lose my shit when I had a baby sleeping in the house and those dummies would start blasting.

USA USA USA. Pro fireworks all the way. I’m more concerned with barking and pooping dogs, which are a year round issue. Also they try to steal my hamburger.

Yeah my little lady was freaking out last night. I ended up throwing on Northwoods Baseball Sleep Radio at a high volume and it seemed to help calm her down a bit.

I work in safety.. and have been pushing for requirements for this for years.

Manufacturers have put up a big front on this, saying they know best.

I’m very torn. Users should be informed, but if there is a safety risk with the old software, am sorta on board with the update occurring without the user’s approval.

Actually, I have a lot of trouble with all of this on both sides, and it is what occasionally makes me want to throw it all away and live in the woods.
How about they work out ALL of the bugs, first. This "release it at 90% finished" is fucking shit, and working its way into mechanical society.

Point taken, and something I’d generally agree with in most circumstances (i.e., software cannot be released until there are no known issues).

The problem is that in the world of cybersecurity and now AI, you might not know there is an issue until 2, 3 years after the software is released. There will
always be a need to update software as safely as possible.

Give your dog a sedative.

In my neighborhood it's all black and hispanic people setting them off. Most of LA is like this wrt to fireworks. These days it's almost racist to say those things. Maybe it is.

It's like a war zone. It's non-stop from 730pm to past midnight on July 4. I'm fine with it, it's once a year, well, twice if you count the new year. I have a cat and a dog. They deal with it.
