Good lord, I hope not: my Tesla works.andyman wrote: Sun Jul 02, 2023 3:52 pm I was going to say "I don't understand his long-term plan. Didn't he put up his entire fortune to buy it and if it fails he's completely fucked?" but it turns out he's worth 5 and a half times what he paid for it so.... welp; I guess he'll just go back to Tesla?

32The monsters who rule us don't use their own money when they buy things, which is extra funny because the money is fake anyway.Wood Goblin wrote: Sun Jul 02, 2023 4:24 pmGood lord, I hope not: my Tesla works.andyman wrote: Sun Jul 02, 2023 3:52 pm I was going to say "I don't understand his long-term plan. Tesla is still the best EV, apparently. Partly because the alternatives seem to be mostly experiments from GM. That, or the standard Hyundai approach of making something that seems like a good quality, value for money option, until you find out that the corners were all cut with basic safety and security features. It's probably the best time to buy a Tesla now if you're purely looking for a deal, because they've been cutting prices to make up for Big Baby Elon's terribleness.

33So first Elon said 600 was the limit, then he changed his mind and said 800. Then he changed his mind again and said 1000. And now it appears to be no limit? Except it appears every now and then, and then disappears. Once yesterday and twice today I ran into the "retry" prompt and then a short while later it worked as usual again. lol what is going on

34Twitter is probably now staffed with only junior and mid-level devs and they can't get anything to work properly.kokorodoko wrote: So first Elon said 600 was the limit, then he changed his mind and said 800. Re: Social media site: Twitter
36He has no long term plan, and was forced into buying twitter by a court order. He didn't have enough liquid cash to make the purchase by himself so he had to take out loans, with the highest amount of funds coming from the Saudis. So he's basically flailing around trying to cut costs and generate revenue (and not doing very well at it) so that he can pay back the Saudis before they go all bone saw on him.andyman wrote: Sun Jul 02, 2023 3:52 pm I was going to say "I don't understand his long-term plan. Re: Social media site: Twitter
37Yep. The financial writer Matt Levine noticed immediately—as in, as soon as Musk had made an offer, and before he tried to back out of it—that the financing made no sense. Had Musk not changed a single thing about Twitter, he still would’ve struggled to cover the debt service for his buyout. The financing was predicated on a belief that Musk would improve the company’s profitability. Instead, he wrecked it.

On second thought, nah, I'm better off without it.

39How does humanity continually produce these lizard people?
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

40Everyone seems to be moving to Blue Sky (not Mastodon). I just took a look at their wiki page and Jack Dorsey is on the board?
Too fucking funny. They have the experience to destroy Musk and Dorsey's going to profit twice off of Musk's cock-up (not that I'm rooting for him either).
