I just remembered about how i'm curious about these things:
I love using a volume pedal when playing guitar so having a tuner integrated into one seems cool and you get a big ol' display in what would normally be wasted space. But realistically I play Telecasters and dont find them to need a lot of mid-set tuning so the utility might be wasted on me.
Re: Generic Gear Opinion Request Thread
332^I've heard that a lot of these wind up having display issues where it just konks out after a few months. Great idea, but I don't know that I trust the quality of a screen that you're constantly stepping on.

333I love the Polytune 3 pedal tuner. Bonus that it has a good sounding buffer (which you can change to true bypass if you prefer).VaticanShotglass wrote: Wed Jul 05, 2023 5:05 pm So what’s the word on tuners these days? I’m in the market for 1) a compact pedal board tuner and 2) a low profile clip-on tuner (as in it doesn’t have some goofy head hanging off the end of some fragile stem). Accuracy is nice, but I’m not tuning to NASA standards.
Supposedly their new clip on tuner is super accurate.

334Drummer Brian from Lightning Bolt/Black Pus reviewed this pedal and said he broke it, although those guys tend to trash stuff quicklyDr Tony Balls wrote: Thu Jul 06, 2023 9:24 am I just remembered about how i'm curious about these things:

335Tuners: Larry Cragg said he liked Peterson Strobostomps in an article years ago so that’s just what I use. Is this what it’s like to be old?
Re: Generic Gear Opinion Request Thread
336Bought one of these as well and the buffer was real good when I had a giant space station board. Could definitely tell that it sounded dull and shitty when the buffer was turned off.tommy wrote: Thu Jul 06, 2023 10:24 amI love the Polytune 3 pedal tuner. I've owned and still own a TU-2, Pitchblack, and Pitchblack Mini. TU-2 is great, but the jacks are kinda borked on mine if you jostle it while playing but hey, I used it hard for years on tour and it still freakin' works. Great job Boss! Pitchblack is also good. PB Mini...I've had issues with the input jack not holding tight enough, and it's so damn small that it tips over if it's not on a pedalboard.
One issue I've noticed in a studio setting when you're really paying attention to tuning is that if everyone is using different tuners, you might not get at quite the right pitch. Had this happen with TU-2 vs. Pitchblack, where both said the strings on different instruments were in tune but there was definitely a slight noticeable difference.

337If I remember correctly, Pitch Black is almost 10x more accurate than the TU-2. TU-3 is a lot better if you want to go the Boss route. Also, always make sure everyone’s tuner is set to the same reference. Many allow things other than A440tallchris wrote: Fri Jul 07, 2023 11:49 am

338Thanks for all the tuner leads! I forgot to mention that I need my tuners to be chromatic, which I think all the recommended ones are.
But those responses brought up two other questions.
3) Ben Adrian mentioned battery power. We had an old tread on this but it may be vaporized. Is anyone successfully rocking a pedalboard with a single (or a couple) rechargeable power bank(s) as opposed to individual batteries? If so, what’s your setup?
4) What’s the current word on small to tiny volume pedals? I also like having one handy but I’m working on making a much more portable and stripped down board. Bonus points if it has a way that sounds reasonably like my 2000s Vox V847, but that’s a low priority. I intend to use the volume pedal for convenient muting and dicking around with volume swells.

Small, but feels substantial. MUCH better build than the mini Dunlop dude I had a while back (which broke in 2-3 months.) All jacks on the right side might be a little weird for some, but it works well for me!

340Does anyone have strong opinions of studio headphones, not really for critical mixing, that are a step up sound wise from AKG K240s. Between 2-3 hundred bucks
