I've got a few paid compressors (they were still quite cheap) that I use a lot. Valhalla reverbs and modulators are all great too, got that tip from FM Kniferide I think.
Airwindows too of course, but it's all very subtle icing on the cake stuff.

I have the 80's and they are good all over so far.kmc wrote: Mon Jul 10, 2023 3:09 pm Which model? It seems the DT 770 PRO are comparable, but which impedance? 32, 80, 250?
If i'm not using an IR reverb, I'm 99% of the time using Valhalla Classic Verb in Orange mode.
The Sulaco settings are probably as close to a room sound as a plugin will get. I've been dipping my toes into plate settings more recently trying to get over my "no obvious reverb" hangup.Kniferide wrote: Mon Jul 10, 2023 6:59 pmIf i'm not using an IR reverb, I'm 99% of the time using Valhalla Classic Verb in Orange mode.
I've been looking up these battery powered pedal power supplies again. Here's what I've noticed.benadrian wrote: Fri Jul 07, 2023 5:18 pm There were a couple companies making rechargeable power banks with 9v out. Pedal, train, for instance. I can't seem to find any in production. I think Mission Engineering and maybe some other companies make a 5v to 9v DC/DC converter. Then you can use a USB power bank and power guitar pedals. I've neer used one.
I tried this a couple years ago with an existing USB power bank I already had. Grabbed one of those cheap 5 to 9 VDC converter cables and a reversal-jack to convert it to Boss-style polarity. There was way too much switching noise to make it useable, which makes sense, as you have to make some compromises in filtering to fit a boost converter circuit into a USB plug.benadrian wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2024 4:16 pm
I found something else interesting. There are companies that make 5vDC USB-A to 9vDC boos -style cables. The conversion is done in the USB jack body.
I've used these before on positive ground fuzzes and they work great, but you kinda have to build around them.benadrian wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2024 4:16 pm I don't want to have to take the bottoms of my pedals off.
