But regardless, I'm still doing a pretty good job staying on the exercise train. I probably said this in the other thread, but I had a pretty good depression set in about 4 few years ago, and music lost 99% of its appeal for me, and fitness became my One Thing to give a shit about, and I've been even more consistent at it ever since. Then a year and a half ago I decided to stop just going through the motions and got more focused on my training, and started seeing better results. While I still have a long way to go, I am still in the best shape I have ever been.
I'm doing two proper full-body workouts per week with cardio, and pick up smaller sets and cardio during the week where I can. I'm basically exercising as hard as I can with the body I have. I'd love to have 3 or 4 good sessions per week, but I'm already fighting various joint ailments*, and the last thing I want to do is cause an injury that will take this One Thing away. I would still like to lose 10-15 pounds, but it's not my first priority. Plus, goddamn do I like to eat.
(*If you want to talk shoulder impingement issues and various rehab exercises to remedy them, I'm your guy!)
I turn 48 this summer, and a week after my birthday I'm doing my first Tough Mudder, which is a 5K paired with an obstacle course event. Looking forward to beating myself up and confronting -- in a small, managed way, mind you -- fears of heights and drowning. After that I want to work on my trail-running game. I've run a couple 5Ks in the city on flat terrain, but trails in my neighborhood (which are at 8,200 feet) kick my ass at 2 miles, so there's LOTS to work on, there. And once these shoulders stop hurting again, I want to get back on path towards benching 1.5 x my body weight, but I'll just have to be patient and see how it goes.
Let's get after it, folks. Onward.

Re: The BRW Memorial Thread on Strength, Endurance, and Health
13Just had my six week follow up appointment from my surgery, and my podiatrist said I've healed way quicker and further along at this point than he expected. I got cleared two weeks ago to start putting limited weight on my foot with the boot on, just around the house, but I'm good now to wear a shoe w/ good support inside, and walk outside without the knee scooter (but still wearing the walking boot).tallchris wrote: Wed Jun 14, 2023 3:42 pm Fuck yeah Trey!
I've dealing with some recurring foot pain that would flare up anytime I tried to be active with jogging (the only exercise I really enjoy) after 3-9 months. Finally got it diagnosed that I have an accessory bone in my left foot that has been fractured and either never completely healed or healed in fucked up ways along with the tendons on the outside of my left foot.
Had to stop running due to the pain and then spent six weeks in a walking boot without it completely healing, so now I'm getting surgery tomorrow. I'll then have six weeks or so when I can't bear weight on my foot, so no band practice, shows, PRFBBQ, etc, but should set me up in a better place by August.
Just took my first non-walking boot steps around the house and it's feeling good, but I'll need some PT to get back to full strength. My calf muscle is totally gone, and my ankle definitely feels weak, but HEY, I don't have the pain I used to have in my foot!

Re: The BRW Memorial Thread on Strength, Endurance, and Health
14It has been a really shitty last 18 months or so. I have reversed to the many of my bad eating habits of the decade prior. Gained a lot of weight back that I lost before the year was 2020, when I was at 210.
Stepped on the scale today and it showed a crisp 300 pounds. That's around 140 metric.
So I decided this morning, let us begin a new cycle of Strength, Endurance, and Health.
First on the agenda is a 72h fast, if I can go that long. I kinda need a dopamine reset, and fast.

Nothing major here. Just a regular EU cock. I pull it out and there is beans all over my penis. Bean shells all over my penis...

15These fasting hours/days have not been as brutal as I thought. Besides around four liters of water daily, I only had two espresso's in three days. Thinking about my first meal in almost four days that will take place tomorrow morning. Taking suggestions LOL

16Go easy when you get back to eating is what I remember my fasting bros telling me. Like they have bone broth as a first meal.
Re: The BRW Memorial Thread on Strength, Endurance, and Health
17After my second kid, I've gained another 12 pounds. I'm just over 200lbs, the heaviest I've ever been. Clothes feel awkward to wear and I feel so outta shape. I recently got a pair of running shoes and have started running in the morning. Nothing crazy, just need the cardio and I'd like to get back to 185lbs. That seems reasonable to me. I could possibly stand to eat less calories, but I'm cursed with excellent cooking skills and enjoy a little hedonism. I barely drink anymore, though. Usually lunches are light and breakfast is pretty standard. When I snack it's usually fresh or dried fruit and nuts. My family recently switched from vegetarian to pescatarian, and we cut down a bit on dairy. I'm hoping the changes will have some affect.
Working from home can have it's drawbacks. I don't get out as much and not walking 30-45 minutes or biking to work.

18I was thinking about some green salad tomorrow and maybe some lean meat. Maybe a protein shake in the morning for breakfast.AdamN wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 5:59 pm Go easy when you get back to eating is what I remember my fasting bros telling me. Like they have bone broth as a first meal.
