While this is anything but "Jam Econo..."?

It was the very first thing that came to mind.
Re: 1U Power Amp for Guitar
42The one hitch being that I have seen at least a couple of folks say "Loud Fan..."
Re: 1U Power Amp for Guitar
43That orange pedal platform power amp looks kinda great but it's spendy. Tc bam 200, trace Eliot elf, Warwick gnome still all look like good ideas to me. Might just buy one and see. The tc is dirt cheap.

44If money was not an object I'd get the 1U Fryette thing. Solid Gear, cool dude.numberthirty wrote: While this is anything but "Jam Econo..."?

THanks for informing me of this, though!
TC is Behringer, and that's just not something I do. Thought about the ELF. Will check out the Gnome.Kniferide wrote: Mon Jul 24, 2023 9:14 pm That orange pedal platform power amp looks kinda great but it's spendy. Re: 1U Power Amp for Guitar
45While I was putting some laundry in the dryer, an option from the metal years did hit me.
The ADA "Microtube..." power amp series. Seems like there was a "100..." as well as a "200..." back then.
Only knew a couple of "Metal..." buds with them, but I can't ever recall hearing a "Stranded On The Side Of The Road..." story.
All that said, I cannot recall the last time that I saw one come up used.

46The only reservation I have about the Rocktrons is reliability. The one I had was broken (burned up MOSFET in the output stage), but I was able to repair it, although it was a bit of a chore.
The one on CL I linked is being sold by a guy who does the same thing I do: buys broken shit and fixes it. We're kinda friendly rivals, at least in my mind, because we're competing for the same broken shit a lot of the time and he's just down the road. I've only had one email interaction with him, asking about a repair he did, and he was pretty terse. That leads me to believe that the ones he's selling were broken.
There's also a glut of broken ones on ebay (in Japan for some reason), so the evidence isn't great.
So yeah, maybe steer clear from the Rocktrons if you want something rocksolid. On paper, they're perfect though.

47I was going to order one of those Harley Benton GPA-100 things but it only works on 220/50 and I don't want to buy a transformer just to make it work. Looks cool though. The tiny Harley Benton stereo 50 watt thing looks nifty as well.benadrian wrote: Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:46 pmIf money was not an object I'd get the 1U Fryette thing. Re: 1U Power Amp for Guitar
48For just a bit more than that Rocktron would run, I would have to wonder about this...

Re: 1U Power Amp for Guitar
49Actually, scratch that.
Any realistic options seem quite a bit more pricey than the Rocktron.

50Perusing that Thomann website, I think this might be the best option in watts-per-dollar, useful features and versatility.

I'm thinking of getting one next pay period.
