In the spirit of a Squier thread, you get the best of all worlds here: offset styling, P-bass growl, and erm the Jazz Bass twangy bridge PU for Jaco solos..

I don’t play bass but regularly day dream about picking one up, and these Jaguar basses come to mind quite a bit. I think they have a 32” scale model, which seems an interesting middle ground scale, not that I know jack about bass.

I tried a bunch of MIM Fenders and MI? Epiphones 10-15 years ago. The Epiphone frets were made of some really awful, inappropriate material. It was sort of like stainless steel frets, but even worse. The Fenders were made of the right stuff, but they were like steak knives at the fretboard edges.

Eww. Good to know. I forgot to mention my little bullet also had some moderately sharp frets and it be really rough fret. But I filed and polished them to satisfaction.

It would be cool if Epiphone would focus on a few really solid but more affordable models like melody makers and such. Double cutaway MM with better pickups would be tempting. That and cool unique Epiphone models like the Crestwood and Wilshire at a higher price point. I know they’ve made those for a few years now but the Wilshire I played about a decade ago looked cool but did feel that great. Crestwoods look cool as fuck. A solid affordable stripped down model would be cool.
