I got down to business this summer.

I've found this substance hard to agree with me in the past. One time I was bad-tripping, another time it was like "ok this is different, but when's it starting?". Mushrooms are incredibly interesting and have their entire own character that go far beyond simple augmentation or warping of perception. Acid always seem to require some kind of extra stimulation. Although comparing things like this feels a little like an inherited normie ignorance talking - it's drugs innit? Nah, very distinct things.

Here too things got off to a slow start, until I fired up a joint (which I didn't plan on) and *that* was the key. Nothing overwhelming (it was a low dose after all) but a markedly increased vividity of mental imagery. I enjoyed the rest of that afternoon.

Shame this stuff is so hard to get - I'd need a couple of attempts to figure out what it's doing.

I signed a book contract with Taylor and Francis this evening. I am excited. It is to be an anthology on topics across human computer science. Everything from HCI to AR to AI ethics etc. I am responsible for editing the thing and getting it over the line so this is going to kill me. Hooray though!

Was thinking that the cadence of noises made by the MRI machine could serve as the basis for some sort of musical piece.
I have thought the same thing, I like the sounds they make. Being in one is like one's own private Autechre/IDM/whatever-the-genre-is performance or something.

You probably already know this, but I saw a very surprising video recently about the correct way to crack eggs: instead of cracking them on the edge of the pan, if you (gently) crush them flat against the kitchen counter the membrane keeps everything intact and stops it leaking out: you can then just pull it apart over the pan and none of the shell goes anywhere.
