403I play nylon tips (Vic Firth 5AN with the grips) and I’ve NEVER lost a tip. They last way longer than wood tips and sound better on cymbals. Wood tips split, and nobody wants a split tip.penningtron wrote: Tue Aug 29, 2023 9:24 am ..ordering some nylon tip drum sticks.
I haven't tried them since I was a teenager. The tips would break off pretty fast, but I also hit like a dipshit back then. I think I would have better luck now, but is it even a worthwhile pursuit? Additional clarity for ride 'dinging' is appealing..
(could have been a C/NC thread but figured it would only get about 3 replies)
Re: Gear talk: TALK ME OUT OF IT
404I probably haven't broken or worn down a tip on a stick in 20 years. More typically they wear down mid shaft (so many euphamisms) or sometimes they'll split right where the stick starts to narrow on a weird cymbal hit or something.ChudFusk wrote: Wed Aug 30, 2023 5:01 pm I play nylon tips (Vic Firth 5AN with the grips) and I’ve NEVER lost a tip. I wasn't bold enough to order nylon tip sticks yet (thanks thread?) but I did get some with pea-shaped tips. I'm curious what difference it'll make, if any.

I've had an Ampeg Gemini VI for a long time. It's a great amp but previous owner put a sound tech pa speaker in there and I feel like it's not serving the tone very well.
This one's on sale right now, seems like a fair deal.
But I don't even play guitar hardly at all any more, and I doubt this'll add any resale value to the amp. IDK.

Re: Gear talk: TALK ME OUT OF IT
406Assuming that's a full range speaker and you'll play a standard electric guitar, that will likely be a massive improvement in satisfaction with tone. I will not talk you out of it. In fact I would talk you into buying two and making another cab to sit under it so you can feel the GsGarth wrote: Thu Aug 31, 2023 11:32 am https://wgsusa.com/g15c

407I have that amp with a factory JBL and it’s 100% one of the most beautiful sounding amps I’ve ever heard. Clean of course, but instead of a plinky sound like you can get straight in with an overpowered Fender, it just sounds great, like it doesn’t need distortion or anything. Kind of like the “clean” guitar in an old, very vintage sounding r&b recording.Garth wrote: Thu Aug 31, 2023 11:32 am https://wgsusa.com/g15c

If I had to replace it, I would just get whatever was closest to that. If you were doing gained out guitar it might not be the best thing, but of course it’s not really that kind of amp.
Sorry to be a butthole, but it sounds pretty good noodling on an EGC

409I have that same WGS 15" in my Music Man sixty-five and it sounds pretty good. It took a little while to break in and mellow out, but it's a vast improvement over whatver shitty carvin bass speaker was in there when I bought it.

410There is a 2*12 Jessup cab at the local music Go Round for about 300$, I don't think they know what they have. I don't know if I know what they have.
Should I get it?
