Re: Which of these California PUNK bands sucks the most?
141The absolute worst was No Use for a Name.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.
I'll take them over Guttermouth any day. The Vandals haven't aged all that well for me either.
Guttermouth, Lagwagon, etc. were all terrible, but No Use for a Name was execrable. Anyone remember Diesel Boy?losthighway wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 4:57 pmI'll take them over Guttermouth any day. The Vandals haven't aged all that well for me either.
You either have some incomplete or incorrect info...Krev wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 5:05 pmGuttermouth, Lagwagon, etc. were all terrible, but No Use for a Name was execrable. While not great, that first Vandals album is better than the aforementioned bands. Hell, anything they did was.
Yep, but not kindly. What I remember most about them is none of their boring-ass music but an anecdote when that "Independence Day" or whatever tour that was came around our little burg in the late 90s that had them and FYP (more on that in a sec) and some others I can't remember...anyway, one of our scene friends was dating the promoter and kinda did him dirty that night to hook up w/ DB's drummer.
Now that band managed to innovate by bringing their pop punk raw and fast. Just a blast of "ooom pah oom pah" on the drums and ultra snotty. Neither Fat Wreck nor Lookout styled pop punk, but still an outgrowth of what the Ramones started.Garth wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 8:13 am
FYP was another band that was awesome for their super raw, dumbass skate punk & then they morphed into just a really boring-ass band so that was disappointing to see.
