I think it probably *is* longer than other Fender shortscales, just looking at the amount of wood behind the bridge. That's fun, though. I always like playing Firebirds because it feels like this enormous chunk of wood in front of you. Also it makes me bust out my best Kim Thayil riffs, but that's for another thread...

For one moment, I thought it was heavy in the neck when I first put it on. Then it was fine. Great balance, and it doesn't feel like you're fighting the neck at all. For a short scale it looks larger than expected. Plays nicely. For neck dive issues, it might just be down to individual styles of slippery straps/satin shirts/playing style/body type. Pleased so far!
that's great - I haven't gotten mind in, needed a co-worker to make their mind up before we ordered stuff today. I figure if it's neck divey I'll put weight under the pickguard.

Was pretty impressed by the Aria DMB-206 I played at a store the other day. 30.5" scale, Mosrite/Hi-Flier style body, with humbuckers in the bridge and neck. Sounded really good through the newer V4-B reissue they had at the store (through an old Sunn 2x15). Been wanting something small and light to keep upstairs that I won't mind too much if the little man rubs a PBJ all over it.

Kinda funny they ripped off the Univox logo for the headstock:
