Re: Social media site: Twitter
62Every social media platform seems to be competing to become the right wing conspiracy theorists' app of choice. There's money to be made in burning civilisation to the ground don'tchaknow. I only wish journalists would stop reporting what gets posted on X and stop linking to threads on X.
Re: Social media site: Twitter
63Oh, god, same here. It’s embarrassing for journalism. Four years at Columbia and $200,000 in student loan debt, all just for, “OMG! Did you see this SICK BURN by that one political operative about another?!?”Anthony Flack wrote: Sat Sep 02, 2023 6:22 pm Every social media platform seems to be competing to become the right wing conspiracy theorists' app of choice. Re: Social media site: Twitter
64I do appreciate when some media outlets refuse to refer to it as "X" and instead say "the app formerly known as Twitter".
Re: Social media site: Twitter
65"West, who now goes by the name Ye, posted on Twitter, now known as X..."
Re: Social media site: Twitter
66It is getting crappy now since fewer people are posting.
On the up-side, LinkedIn is loosening up as a result!

67I'll just put this here:
According to CNN (see accurate critiques in the media source thread) Elon Musk shut down a network of satellites to disrupt a Ukrainian air attack on Russia.
How 2020s does it get?

Re: Social media site: Twitter
68Sure.. let a fragile, increasingly erratic drug addict have a near monopoly on satellite internet service.. nothing could possibly go wrong.

I'd rather be throwing darts.
Re: Social media site: Twitter
70I have definitely been getting horrible shit suggested "for me" like Laura Loomer and other right wing garbage.
Not sure how my interests in things like bird watching, bike lanes, and weird-ass music brought me there, but OK, I guess.
Based on the ads I see, Cheech & Chong's gummy business is keeping the whole thing afloat.
I hope it dies soon. It has gotten much, much worse (less interesting and funny) in the past year or so.
