Me too, even just lurking for years and years taught me so much. And the handful of IRL interactions I've had with posters have only reinforced/affirmed the love.

I actually have a huge sheet of stainless, I'm going to save the original top and bottom (yes, I am a hoarder, how did you know?) and try to make a shorter pair with something like this:

I should find out what size drill bit & chamfer I need to make the 20 screw holes. M3? M4? Based on one experience, stainless is a lot tougher to cut/drill than mild steel.
Alternatively, I could just use a grinder to lop off a too-big piece and take Nate's other suggestion to find a place that already has the tooling to cut and drill stainless.
I'll post an update after I shoot my eye out.
