Re: Help me remember thread

When I was a little kid I had a receiver in my bedroom that had a round tuner dial on the right hand side with green illuminated numbers. It was smallish, not a full rack width like most nice pieces of stereo equipment, maybe 2/3rds of that in width. Nothing fancy, more likely a department store cheapie from the 60s or 70s. I think the faceplate was silver and the sides and top were wood. I saw a picture of one in somebody's IG story and asked them what it was and they never responded and the pic expired.

The main thing I remember is that round dial with the glowing green numbers at night.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

By round tuner dial, I mean like this;

The numbers glowed green and they looked really cool, in a font that was wider at the outer part of the circle and narrowed IIRC. But on mine the tuner dial was even farther to the right, and the rest of the front panel was very basic, no 8 track and it had just a few knobs across the front and no sliders.

She tried very hard to do the right things but always, with IIRC the best intent, did the wrong thing. You feel sorry for her but also kind of hate her. Does anyone remember this film?

Kind of in the vein of All My Friends Hate Me.
Still searching for this movie...

there is a movie about which i know almost nothing, except:

* i'm about 85% positive the leading male role is Sam Neill
* almost the final shots of the entire film are a peter greenaway-type tableau where his wife? girlfriend? has, in anticipation of his arrival home, slaughtered some livestock in a barn? i recall his reaction appears to be one of mild impatience?

caveat: probably dreamed this. three weeks ago richard e grant taught me how to ride a horse.

Thank you, but it definitely isn't Possession (saw it for the first time earlier this year: incredible film). Having just come off a four-week stint of speedrunning the entire recorded output of The Fall in search of a song which ultimately turned out to be the work of a band from Montana I'm okay with the prospect of watching every Sam Neill film in sequential order, although I reserve the right to skip Bicentennial Man.

Another movie!

When I was a kid I vaguely remember seeing a movie in a theater with my late father. It was probably early 80s. All I remember is a scene where some people are in a jungle or mountain and they come upon a cave entrance but the rocky entrance is carved in a giant skull shape. I recall it having an Indiana Jones vibe but it wasn’t Raiders. This is a super sketchy and faded memory and I’m not 100% sure it wasn’t a dream.
