I’m setting up a more robust home office setup than I’ve used in years, to the point that I’ll be leaving most of the setup plugged in all the time. I’d like to make sure the nice computer, etc. are relatively safe, but I have no idea what to get. As always, I’m on a tight budget.
I had some old nice thing way back when but that and the stereo and all stayed with the ex and I don’t recall what it was.
Advice?

2I use the little Black Lion six strip deals in a star configuration, but I’m interested in what the others have to say. I’m using them to power a laptop, a mixing desk, convertors and interface and a bunch of outboard.
I think the safest thing to do is to not have gear plugged in when you’re not using it.

3That’s what I do now but it can get a bit nuts with things like an entire entertainment system or whatever. I guess you could just unplug the power strip.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Sat Oct 28, 2023 7:53 pm I think the safest thing to do is to not have gear plugged in when you’re not using it.
Re: Surge Protectors, Power Strips, and Uninterrupted Power Supplies
4I just use Furman Rack Power conditioners with an additional front facing rack mount powerstrip (cheap, like $30 on Amazon) for easy access in my racks. I put these in the front and backs of racks sometimes. For any computer power source, internet modem, router, and monitor I have a 1500 VA Cyberpower UPS so if power goes out I have about an hour or so to save and turn off the computer. When I was baby sitting live streaming shit from my house from "Big Corporate Shoe" this saved my twice as I had the power go out and still was on line for long enough for the backup tech to take over even though i had no power in the house. I used to use 2 big fuck off hospital grade AC power Iso transformers but I stopped all that for no real reason a few years back. I try to shut down everything when I'm not around, but I'm bad a this.
