Next poll: Would you? King Jizzy
I was just listening around a bit and they definitely have stuff I don't like. There's a rap song called "Sadie Sorceress" from last year that you'd need to pay me to finish listening to.
Re: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
32Have sampled a bunch of stuff, records and live video.
Kind of actively hated it all, too cutesy for me.
CRAP.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is the perfect name for this band, I will give them that.

33Fantastic musicians and I do respect the tenacity of production in how much the release....but.....nothing of their stuff has ever stuck with me.
Will abstain I guess.

34The new album rips. If you liked “Gaia” off of last year’s album, then this is the album for you. Drummer is crazy good on this new one.
If this album came out 40 years ago, it would’ve changed the trajectory of metal. Now it’s just full of acrobatics that we’ve all seen before, but are no less thrilling. I won’t begrudge anyone for loving this album, especially a teenager. When I summon my 16 year old self and give it a listen, it’s a jaw dropper.

35Never listened to them properly on record, but saw them live with a pal. It was fun for a big show- well-observed genre shifts, but ultimately felt a bit hollow. A bit like watching someone change into different outfits or Music: A Tribute Concert
Oh yeah, there was a moment when one of them did a rap. Don't do that, mate.

36Predator X from the last one is also a good jumping-off tune for the new record.Dave N. wrote: Thu Jul 13, 2023 9:39 pm The new album rips. If you liked “Gaia” off of last year’s album, then this is the album for you.

37I’ve only listened to the first hour of the 5 hour Live In Chicago ‘23 “bootleg”, but that first hour is really good. I may prefer the live version of “Pleura” to the studio version.
These guys are playing at a large venue on their next run through Austin. I guarantee, they’re well on their way to becoming the next Grateful Phish.

39From the new record.
I don't usually listen to this kind of thing. Can someone explain in physiological terms why this song makes me emotional?

40It feels wrong to object to their release rate when they are clearly talented and their output is varied, but I can't deny feeling some relief when a global pandemic finally slowed them down. Some of their tracks feel a bit insubstantial or underbaked, and can stray into pastiche - but well executed pastiche - which may explain why I don't listen to them that much. But when they hit the mark I really like them.
The rapping has to stop, however.
