Re: Streaming Netflix/Hulu/etc. - what's good lately?
522Invasion on AppleTV. It's a slow roller but ends up being worth it after a good number of episodes. Something kept me coming back. Just finished season 1.

523Only watched the first one, but Blue Eye Samurai... FUCK YEAH!

524It's a tough one: lots of detestable characters and cringiness with little humorous payoff. Will proceed though..penningtron wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:28 am Will probably have to sign up for some free trial to watch Nathan Fielder's new show 'The Curse', anyone seen it yet?

525Netflix
May December. It's pretty intense. Just watched it and still rolling it around in my head. Recommended.

526huh... sounds like they unintentionally created their own version of The Curse. I'm a little sick of 'nice guy' Ryan Reynolds and his business ventures.andyman wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 4:22 am Watched S1 of Welcome to Wrexham, the thing where Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney buy a Welsh football team.
It's somewhat watchable, but there's an underlying feeling the entire time of it being very carefully crafted with a certain narrative. The two guys try to pass as humble dudes trying to serve a dying town out of sheer reverence for its history (even though there are so many towns just like it), while really the TV show is the product, not the team, and they want to create a merchandising empire.

527Feeding into your theory it also came along fresh off the popularity of Ted Lasso..andyman wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 11:04 amJust to be clear, at no point in the show is this stuff shown or mentioned. On the surface it's a "feel good stories of the fans" documentary series and I imagine much of the audience likes it for that reason.penningtron wrote: huh... sounds like they unintentionally created their own version of The Curse
But if you read between the lines...

528I am very much enjoying A Murder at the End of the World on Hulu.
Five episodes have been released so far, there will be seven in total.

The Garden, on Max, is kind of interesting, for many reasons. The production is totally "Discovery Channel" style, which is the only real drawback.

530Really, really enjoying The Curse. Uncomfortable to watch in so many ways.penningtron wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2023 2:01 pmIt's a tough one: lots of detestable characters and cringiness with little humorous payoff. Once Upon A Time in Iraq is incredible - think it might be on Apple TV, but I watched it on BBC iplayer.
