I definitely check out after Scary Monsters, but almost everything up that point is pretty much unfuckwithable in my book. Mick Ronson gets so much of the attention, but I would put Carlos "MOTHERFUCKIN!" Alomar up there with him any day, he's a monster player.

Queen were an astonishing concatenation of talents. In any other band, Brian May would have been the guitarist AND singer. John Deacon was a sorely underrated vocalist and bassist. Roger Taylor was an incredible drummer with a great high harmony voice. Freddie Mercury was Freddie Mercury. They all wrote great songs. Live, they left everything they had on the stage. One of the greatest bands ever.

David Bowie did the album "heroes."

Bowie.

Queen were not a serious band.

Bowie changed culture. In hindsight even his weakest work mid eighties has a weird merit in the context of his body of work.

Not even a debate IMO.
