I think it should be converted into the world's first libertarian reservation. The process would look like this:

US citizens convicted of crimes like the January 6th thing will have their citizenship revoked and be deported to the libertarian reservation via air drop in lieu of taking up space in the prisons. Anyone caught sneaking into in the US without a passport or attempting to live in the US without a Visa would get the full-on dickhead treatment we give to Mexicans, not the kids gloves we give to Canadians and Europeans. Then they can have all the lawlessness and dictatorship that they want, and they get to prove to the world how good they are at bootstrapping their way around needing to have a food supply and basic infrastructure. And if they piss us off, we nuke them, but I guarantee that, after less than 50 years of a nightmarish collapsing society, there'd be a revolution and a socialized nation would spring up real quick, so nuking probably won't be necessary.

It's a novel idea, but I think it belongs with other theocratic dictatorships like Turkmenistan. There are no hurdles to controlling women's bodies and battering heathens with a King James in those motherfuckers.
