I'm going to need to see some fucking ID.

Anyway, a big not crap from me. I agree that the Superunknown singles can be skipped over - never need to hear "Black Hole Sun" or "My Wave" on their own again - but the Badmotorfinger singles like "Jesus Christ Pose" and "Rusty Cage" still rule hard. Conversely, I prefer Superunknown's deep cuts to Badmotorfinger's. Down on the Upside is very good from front to back but it's Down on the Upside:Superunknown::Adventure:Marquee Moon. I need to spend more time with Louder Than Love, admittedly.

Soundgarden was very much NC, if only for Superunknown, a record I won't hesitate to call a work of songwriting and studio production genius.

People compare this album to Led Zeppelin. I think a closer comparison would be to White Album era Beatles: the manic attention to detail, the careful melodic guitar interplay, soulful vocal harmonies, lots of stuff going on at once in the arrangements.

Superunknown is the masterpiece but the other albums also have great tracks here and there. Badmotorfinger is also top notch.

Kim Thayil is a cool guy and I'm sad Chris died. These guys were so far ahead of the Green Day/STP/Pumpkin stuff that clogged the airwaves back then
