that crack has me shook

blowing it up, it appears to be a correct assessment of the damage from the seller where it doesn't look like the wood is cracked but that's the first thing I'd look closely at & take off the neck even if the seller is willing to let you do it.

Even if it is cracked, sure it could be repaired...but eeeeeek

Mexican teles (at least mine and others I've seen posted about online) do seem likely to need some TLC on the fret ends but now that it's winter you should have a pretty accurate assessment how bad they might be poking out. That's something you could do yourself w/ a bit of youtubing though.

that's all I got.

Devil’s advocate - Recently FM Elisha was selling a Jaguar with Fralin pickups for a good price and I didn’t move on it. Now I’ve got to spend about half what that whole guitar cost on a new set of pickups.

Partscasters are usually cheaper than the parts, once all
is said and done. Not sure if that crack is a deal breaker or not, but this is just my reasoning for this sort of purchase.

Yeah that crack is just lifting finish, some CA glue and a duct tape splint will fix it almost invisibly. Someone overtightened the neck screw, I bet.
That's not even a partscaster since the whole thing is included - it's a MIM Nashville Tele for $350 with two extra high end pickups and two extra pickguards. They are like $500-700 on Reverb. Total no-brainer.

"Gear talk: justify my purchase" has done its job. The tele has been retrieved.

Roland sp404 mk11

Am I really going to get my beatmaking/EDM on? Is it easy enough to get up and running? Features seem endless.
I tried my luck with Ableton Live and hated every minute of it. I like the hands-on workflow with a machine like this.

Do I step up to the Akai MPC one? I like the screen on it.

I have an MPC one and both love/hate it. The MPC-way of doing things is a very very different workflow from what I'm used to and I still don't love it or even have my head fully wrapped around it a year or two on...but for what it can do, it's a bargain, just prepare for the possibility of a steep, unfun learning curve (or idk, maybe that's fun for you). There are a lot of learning resources online, especially youtube, but the MPC is traditionally a hip-hop machine and so most of the production & presentation is based on that style.

Other disadvantages are that it only has single stereo output and headphone jack. This might not be a huge deal for almost everyone in the world but for what I'd planned to use it for it was a bit of a limitation. I am able to workaround it with midi.

File system is trash too - absolutely have been unable to figure out to move, copy, make multiple versions, etc. Even found just creating a basic drum kit to use for idea generation and move into different projects to be cumbersome. The flexibility is cool but it comes at a cost.

I'll say too I don't love the sound of it sometimes. I didn't realize it at first but when trying to recompose old material, it ended up getting compared to my 25 year old DR-5 that I've used as an idea box forEVER...and strangely some of the sounds coming out of that old Boss box sound more lively. And the MPC grit wasn't in a charming way either. This might have been user error but IDK, very odd. I know part of the draw of that SP box you mentioned is the sound so keep that in mind as well.

I have an EX800 already and have loved it for quite a while despite its limitations but my unit developed terribly weak output and is unusable. Not sure if it can be repaired or not.
Price seems ok-ish. But do bear in mind that being old, it could still fail at any time.

Lots of interesting things you could get new for similar or not much more money.
