I have an EX800 already and have loved it for quite a while despite its limitations but my unit developed terribly weak output and is unusable. Not sure if it can be repaired or not.
Price seems ok-ish. But do bear in mind that being old, it could still fail at any time.

Lots of interesting things you could get new for similar or not much more money.
Excellent point. I thought the EX was fine and hopefully can get it working again but I wouldn't say it was doing anything so unique or particularly interesting that I have really been missing it over the years.

^ This is key.

If I might be so bold, a couple of suggestions to check out. (apologies if you're already aware of this stuff)

If you want to stick with something analogue the Bass Station 2 is an excellent mono, or you could even get a decent sounding poly for similar money in the Dreadbox Nymphes.

For more interesting/unusual stuff, the Korg Opsix is a great take on FM with some extra twists, or alternatively the Arturia Microfreak packs a lot into a small space.

Yeah I got an opsix when they were getting blown out on the Reverb site. Still haven't cracked the code on FM synthesis yet but hopefully someday. I may get a Minilogue at some point instead.
Sophisticated AIs probably can't even crack the code of FM synthesis. Apes aping each other might be able to. if you gave them a million years they could probably write a Shakespeare play eventually. But intuitive, simple quick solutions are key for apes.

My bass guitar is the very inexpensive Ibanez Soundgear P/J, originally my little brother's first bass, which I converted into a fretless a few years ago.

I am holding off invasive thoughts about buying a fretted (semi-)acoustic bass. Before I act on that impulse, I will:

1. wire in a J bridge pickup and the G&L PTB passive tone circuit (presently there is just the P pickup in circuit)
2. log three months of min. 4 days/wk no-bullshit practice

Minilogue is a good little synth at a decent price, the main downfall IMO being the 4 voice limit, YMMV.

This actually aligns with something that i've been thinking about lately....

I have a Jazz Bass that I like, but the double volume knob is a drag for me since I want to turn everything off with just one knob. I rarely mix the pickups anyway, they're just both always up. I *also* have a G&L L-1000 that I like and it has a three knob situation with volume, treble-cut, bass-cut. It also has a switch to select pickup wiring: single coil, parallel humbucking, and series humbucking. I am of the opinion that series humbucking is the best and i'm thinking about just wiring my jazz bass this way.

There’s probably a way to turn one volume into a master volume, and then other into a balance/blend knob between the two pickups (using a dual pot like in a Klon?). That way you can still get all the sounds and also have a single volume knob.

Boom!

$30 is a bit low, it seems, but Reverb is chock full of ~$45 options. Not that it matters much, but brand new they're only $60!
