Yet, still nowhere near the dumbosphere of “Big Black” or “Rapeman, either of which I’ve never seen taken to task in this forum for well, obvious reasons 🤔
I read once that Albini means "little white". Like a lamb. The opposite of something big, evil and scary.

Jesus is the Lamb.
Sounds like a backpedal. He knew the impact of those names.

Well, I was a douche when I was younger. I'm certainly in no position to judge anyone about stuff done years ago.

I feel like Steve and I are kind of like twins. Seriously. His bands were fantastic and yeah the names are a bit questionable but especially I think what he, Dave and Santiago accomplished is pretty excellent. Atomizer is a really compelling album. Not just sonically but also conceptually. Rapeman was more short lived but still great. Big Blacks two LPs are fantastic. I think Shellac is his best work though.

Steve's writing has influenced me even more than his music. His thoughts on politics, criminal justice, the homeless, etc. have stuck with me and really influenced me. He could have made a great career as a journalist if he had chosen to.

I think Steve has already publicly flagelated himself concerning his youthful edgelord indescetions, so there is very little to discuss. It’s not like there was miuch to to talk about to begin with, as they were at least in the second wave of “rude” bands which had naughty names, song titles and lyrics.

This band however has a name that is just fundementally stupid in a way that only a dirty hippie could appreciate.

But I'm sure Steve had some reason for naming those bands that, don't you think? I'm curious what they were.

Yeah, no comparison. Unless you can demonstrate how Gizzard Lizard equally sanctions racism and misogyny.
