Re: RIP v2 - still no cure for death
993Blazing "Ten Auras (Live)" this evening, and my very understanding husband is letting me do it.

994Unconditionally loved in Germany for 50 years...then hated for 10 years...now suddenly loved again. Strange how death helps to mystify, mythologize, beatify and panegyrize a person.

996Missed this completely.
And now RIP Mary Weiss.
Her 2007 album Dangerous Game is pretty good too, and she may even have received some money from it.
Re: RIP v2 - still no cure for death
997Man, RIP Mary Weiss. I got to see her with the Reigning Sound as her band. It was a quartet version of the band with David Wayne Gay, Lance Wille, and Dave Amels on Organ. They had the old Oblivians energy but with added dynamics and a swinging rhythm. She was great and really lit up fronting a muscular, driving band.
I have always had a soft spot for the Shangri-Las story songs. "I Can Never Go Home Anymore" always plays out in my head like a technicolor Douglas-Sirk-if-he-ever-made-a-sweet-and-dour-female-lead-rebel-teen film.
"Don't do to your mom what I did to mine
She grew so lonely in the end
Angels picked her for a friend"
