142Arthur C Clarke described the Overlords in Childhood's End as resembling biblical demons. Could you just imagine it? Someone needs to successfully translate that book to the big screen.

Never seen a meteor cruise horizontally across the sky.

145The Perseids often track nearly horizontally.
Shallow angle of entry relative to our inclination with the ecliptic, which this time of year will be lower at night. Shallow angle at high altitude so that atmospheric deceleration is low, could look very much like that. If they didn't quote 'flash bang' I'd think it might have even bounced off the atmosphere if the angle was shallow enough.
Any superluminal civilization will have the ability to manipulate spacetime in a way where ionization and plasma effects don't even come into play. They're there and then suddenly, they aren't.

146Loving this jellyfish UFO story making the rounds mostly because it reminds me of the 80s Sega video game Zaxxon and how it scrolls through a landscape, albeit without the explosions and "pew pew* raygun sounds
I recently watched The Stuff and there was a scene where a couple of kids are playing it. I've been low-key obsessed since. Maybe this is a sign like the Devil's Tower in CEotTK.

147I happened to be one of the people who saw the Peekskill meteorite along the Pittsburgh part of its flight path, and it was traveling nearly horizontally, which makes sense, since it struck ground (well, car) in upstate NY. So a horizontal flight path isn't unheard of.

Thanks for that rabbit hole. We are fireball bros! Myself and a couple of other folks caught one streaking through the sky while smoking outside of Township one night. Very, very cool.

This mf thing doesn't look anything like a jellyfish, and it looks fake as fuck, but hey that's entertainment!
Re: About those Pentagon-anointed UFO/UAP videos
150It was very impressive! I've seen a few quick steeply angled fireballs since then, but nothing as dramatic as that one.rsmurphy wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 11:45 amThanks for that rabbit hole.
