Everly Brothers - Roots

If you fuck with Gram Parsons, or Sweetheart of the Rodeo era Byrd's, this thing is a gem. The brothers return to the country roots in a nod to their upbringing. The album has a cool pastiche/collage element like QOTSA Songs for the Deaf, but instead of skits, it's actual recordings of the Everly Brothers as little kids singing old time songs and mc'ing their father's radio show. Super nostalgic.

The arrangements are cool. More polished then say Doc Watson who they cover, kind of the early Nashville sound before it goes over the top, some Van Dyke Parks kind of technicolor strings.
