I was going to write that it's a perfect word in being used exclusively by douchebags and is, in fact, not crap for its utility in identifying such folk. But I'd just be judging someone without getting know them then, so it's crap even from that angle.
As a word, crap all around, but I won't hold it against the bro-dom. I'm sure they're decent people underneath.
Re: Noun: Bro
12Yep it's perfect for that stuff: gym bros, tech bros, podcast bros, and of course.. Pharma Bro. Bros be inserting themselves into (and then dominating) all aspects of life.andyman wrote: I was going to write that it's a perfect word in being used exclusively by douchebags and is, in fact, not crap for its utility in identifying such folk.
Some people pull off brother in earnest but that probably won't ever be me.

Re: Noun: Bro
14My guitar tech calls me bro, in a non-ironic/sarcastic way, which is funny, as he's not a bro-y dude in any way at all.
My brother and I never call each other bro.
Bruh makes me laugh.
How does the PRF feel about 'boss'? I like that one.

Re: Noun: Bro
15I prefer Bruv to Brah.
You guys are already calling everything "bra", sounds confusing.
Re: Noun: Bro
16Not sure what you mean. "bra(h)" is a little too much for me.zorg wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 9:21 amYou guys are already calling everything "bra", sounds confusing.

Re: Noun: Bro
17sorry, "bra" på svensk, meaning good/nice. I'm sure you don't even notice it, but to foreign ears it sounds like you guys are calling everyone and everything a brah.kokorodoko wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 9:33 amNot sure what you mean. Re: Noun: Bro
18Agreed. I rarely use bro to refer to any non-siblings, as most of the time that I hear the term, it’s being used by a dumb white guy who just did something stupid and/or racist and is now aggressively cajoling for forgiveness. I do like to say bro to my half-siblings because it makes me feel good to have brothers after 40 years of being an only child.
Re: Noun: Bro
19oh right lol. Yes that's true. bruh is bra and brah is not iow.zorg wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 9:42 amsorry, "bra" på svensk, meaning good/nice. I'm sure you don't even notice it, but to foreign ears it sounds like you guys are calling everyone and everything a brah.
