Canada's big national music store chain, Long & McQuade, had it's yearly overstock/rental dept/used stuff that's been sitting liquidation sale this past weekend. Deals were few and far between, I'm not really in the market for anything, and money is tight recently so I didn't do anything dumb. That said, one of the locations had something listed as a "z vex solar" for $150, which I thought was the Sonar tremolo just misspelled, so I took a flyer on it, bought it over the phone and made use of the free store-to-store shipping.
Turns out it's actually a sn# 1-of-1 hand-painted super-duper-2-in-1 with a graphic called "solar" (ie there's a big sun on it). SHOs rule, I don't actually own a real z vex one, so I'm actually quite pumped on this micro-score. Not sure what the custom shop z vex stuff normally sells for, but feels like a win for the price.
I also found a great price on a Daking channel strip ($875 iirc) but passed that along to a pal who's been looking for one for a while. Pretty sure he grabbed it. There's a Drawmer 1969 sitting on the floor at my local store giving me feels (a rented 1969 was the first nice preamp/comp box I ever used in depth way back in like 2003, every single track on the record one of my bands recorded in my apartment at the time went through that thing), but the price is too damn high for me to justify it. The 0% financing is TEMPTING though.

1072I have one I'd sell if you're interested.mdc wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2024 7:45 am There's a Drawmer 1969 sitting on the floor at my local store giving me feels
The dude from Warmoth said that exact thing for partscaster n00bs: for god's sake don't start with a Jag/JM!llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Fucking Johnny Marr wiring harness for a jaguar$$$
Don’t put those things together. There are so many parts and you’re competing with precocious rich kids and their parent’s credit cards. Put together Teles.
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
1073Do you like software plugins? Because Softube has a Drawmer for a fraction of the price, if that interests you.mdc wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2024 7:45 am There's a Drawmer 1969 sitting on the floor at my local store giving me feels

1074I would have bought the shit out of that Daking! I hope your friend got it.mdc wrote: I also found a great price on a Daking channel strip ($875 iirc) but passed that along to a pal who's been looking for one for a while. Pretty sure he grabbed it.
Oh he would know! I have a 60s slab board Mustang neck I’ve been holding on to for years and decided on turning it into a Jaguar one day, but I would have been perfectly happy with Warmoth stuff. So good.MoreSpaceEcho wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2024 9:30 am The dude from Warmoth said that exact thing for partscaster n00bs: for god's sake don't start with a Jag/JM!
I really need to sell off my small weirdo pickup stash so I’m not tempted again.

1075I need a cheapo pickup (anything) to fit where this used to be:llllllllllllllllllll wrote: I really need to sell off my small weirdo pickup stash so I’m not tempted again.

This was a crappy and wonderful microphonic POS that was on a SG copy partscaster, it fell to bits when I monkeyed with it like a fool.
The guitar only has a spot for one pickup - got anything cheap? If so, please DM me.

1076I don’t think what I have would fit, but I bet someone around here does.Teacher's Pet wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2024 12:46 pmI need a cheapo pickup (anything) to fit where this used to be:llllllllllllllllllll wrote: I really need to sell off my small weirdo pickup stash so I’m not tempted again.

1077I went to college and was in residence with the son of one of the Longs (Jeff?) - of all the equipment that could possibly be at his disposal, he chose to be in a popular ska band.mdc wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2024 7:45 am Canada's big national music store chain, Long & McQuade, had it's yearly overstock/rental dept/used stuff that's been sitting liquidation sale this past weekend. I guess that kind of uses up the most things.
Score on that zvex - SHO's do rule

ai yi yi - if you have a price in mind and aren't in a rush, let me know.

1080Definitely not in a rush. That thing has been sitting idle for awhile, I'll fire it up over the weekend, check it out and get back to ya.mdc wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2024 4:44 pm ai yi yi - if you have a price in mind and aren't in a rush, let me know.
