Depending on the rye, you could go with Boulevardier through summer. Pick a high rye content "grassy" rye, and with lower alcohol, in place of something like Rittenhouse, which is dark and rich with lots of corn in the mash, and 50% abv IIRC.

That sounds excellent, I might just add a squeeze from a lime wedge to acidify a little. Mexican sodas and mezcal is a severely under-appreciated way to drink.
