It's nice to poke around and say hi to actual humans, and they got a new shop dog which is very cute.
This is an exciting development. I bet the tone really growls, but cosmetically might be a little ruff.

If I hadn't pieced together a proper bass rig recently, and had a little more money to spare/a less cramped living space*, I'd pull the trigger.

This thing is STILL up. Even with local pickup it shocks me that it hasn't moved. It's been listed for 24 days. I'm half-tempted to offer them $800 cash and drive 20+ hours to get it myself if they took it.

Seems like a steal. I really don't need an amp like this right now, but I'm tempted to grab it just to flip it.
It's ABSOLUTELY a steal and worth every penny...but I'm not sure you'd get much money on the flip. IMO the X100B is still holding as the most undervalued bang-for-the-buck amp on the market and they frequently seem to come up for low dough like this. That and combo amps seem to be very much out-of-fashion for some reason these days, maybe because they're so hard to ship.

Nate Dort wrote: Sat Feb 10, 2024 4:45 pm Just don't buy the overpriced Mercury Magnetics OT that they specifically advertise for this amp. I'd find something like a Bandmaster OT and drop that in there.

Something like this, which will give you 4, 8, & 16 ohm output taps: https://shop.amppartsdirect.com/product ... by-heyboer
Could not agree more.
That Heyboer is precisely the OT my amp guy (Kerry Dulin) landed on last week when I brought it in.

Consensus!
Field report: the Magnatone 435 bass amp has that Heyboer in it now. It hums pretty good at the moment, but it has a very very nice sound on guitar when cranked and it's quite loud.

Weird. Unless there's some sort of funnel inside those tubes down at the end, I hope the owner never has to change strings.
That is ... something all right. Would be interesting.
Re string changes, one of the photos shows slots in the ends of the "pipes" which come up from the underside, so probably no issues with string change.
